BELIZE CITY, Belize, July 25th, 2019 – Today, the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, through the Belize City House of Culture and Downtown Rejuvenation Project, is pleased to invite the public to participate in a competition to name the location once occupied by the Paslow Building on the corner of North Front Street and Queen Street in Belize City. Deadline for submission of names is Friday, 30th August 2019 at 5:00 p.m.

A new two-story building will be constructed at Lot 977 located at the corner of Queen and North Front Streets in Downtown Belize City. The new building is one of five structures in the downtown of the Old Capital that the Belize City House of Culture and Downtown Rejuvenation Project is currently investing in. The new building is designed to host a Tourist Welcome Center and vendor booths on the first floor with offices and a café on the second, and a parking area in the rear. Construction commenced in June 2019 and is projected to be completed at the end of 2019.
This project is being funded by the Government of Belize and the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) and executed by the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation through the Belize City House of Culture and Downtown Rejuvenation Project.
Proposed names received will be evaluated and shortlisted. The Shortlist will be published and voted upon by the public on an online poll between from 16th to 30th September 2019. The building will be named based on the winning entry on the online poll.
