The Department of Transport reminds all public transport operators that, in accordance with Statutory Instrument No. 9 of 2021, “The provision of public transportation or private transportation is limited to seventy-five per centum of the seating capacity of the public or private transportation.”
Any bus operator who fails to comply with the regulation will be subject to disciplinary proceedings.
The Department of Transport will continue to enforce the provisions of the relevant legislation by increasing its surveillance at bus terminals and checkpoints countrywide to ensure that the public health regulations in place are being adhered to.
The department also thanks bus operators who have been complying with the public health regulations to ensure that commuters are safe.
