The Office of the Prime Minister informs that Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño left the country on December 29, 2023, on personal leave in advance of a trip to Vatican City, Rome, to meet with Pope Francis.
The Prime Minister returns to Belize on January 7, 2024. During his absence, Hon. Cordel Hyde, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining, will hold over as Prime Minister.
