The Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Transport proudly announces the official opening of the Department of Youth Services (DYS) Punta Gorda Branch. Located at the corner of Prince and Olgaldez Street, this facility is a testament to the Ministry’s commitment to fostering youth development and empowerment in the Toledo District.
The new DYS branch is more than just a building; it is a hub of opportunity and growth. The facility offers youth-focused initiatives such as skills development, career counseling, and community engagement activities, all designed to provide vital resources and programs. By expanding its reach, the Ministry is creating a pathway for young people to unlock their full potential and actively contribute to Belize’s progress.
The opening ceremony celebrated collaboration and progress. It featured inspiring remarks from distinguished stakeholders, a tour of the facility, and a preview of innovative programs to nurture leadership, creativity, and resilience among the nation’s youth.
During the ceremony, Hon. Rodwell Ferguson, Minister in the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Transport, Hon. Oscar Requena, Area Representative of Toledo West, and Hon. Osmond R. Martinez, Area Representative of Toledo East, each delivered speeches underscoring the shared commitment to youth development. Additionally, certificates of recognition were presented to boat captains to acknowledge of their contributions. The event concluded with formal closing remarks by Mayor Carlos Galvez, followed by a ceremonial ribbon-cutting to mark the official inauguration of the new branch.
