The Ministry of Health has noticed, with concern, the increase of requests for support to recommend a sanitization provider for COVID-19. The Public Health Department has made the observation that while this activity supports the control of the spread of COVID-19, out of an abundance of caution, this activity must adhere to the Ministry of Health’s recommendations to be effective and safe. It is therefore recommended that the following guidelines be followed when engaging a sanitization operations provider for COVID-19.
- Request a letter of endorsement from the Ministry of Health before contracting the services.
- Ensure that chemicals being used are either 70% alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or bleach. Any chemical other than what has been recommend must have an approval for use for the destruction of SARS-CoV-2 virus as per the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) List N.
- Provider must conduct cleaning before the sanitization of the premises and ensure all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) is used to safeguard the health of their workers.
All owners of a sanitization operations provider are advised to call the Ministry of Health offices to obtain the recommended protocol for sanitization.
