Belmopan, November 17, 2024.
The Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour & Local Government (MRTCDLLG) advises all Village Councils and Water Boards to continue monitoring the effects of Tropical Storm Sara. It is important to ensure that our rural communities have continuous access to clean and safe water.
We are aware that due to the floods, there are five (5) Rural Water Systems that are down in the Cayo District – Calla Creek, Bullet Tree Falls, Cristo Rey, San Antonio, and Valley of Peace. Our Rural Development Department team will assess these systems’ status and provide emergency water relief as needed.
We continue to monitor and work with local Water Boards and community leaders nationwide. We also remind everyone to keep communication open with residents, our Rural Community Development Officers, and emergency services on the status of your water systems.
The Ministry of Rural Transformation remains committed to ensuring our rural communities have continuous access to potable water, even in emergencies.
