Belmopan, October 24, 2024.
The Ministry of Public Service, Constitutional and Political Reform, and Religious Affairs, through its Good Governance Unit, launched its annual Anti-Corruption Program Month under the theme,
“EMPOWERED BY CHOICE, UNITED BY VOICE, BELIZE AGAINST CORRUPTION.” The month-long campaign is dedicated to raising awareness and promoting the values of good governance in Belize’s ongoing fight against corruption.
The launch event brought together Ministers, stakeholders, and key partners to discuss the objectives of this year’s anti-corruption initiative, highlighting the importance of transparency, accountability, integrity, and ethical leadership in combatting corruption.
This year’s program includes a series of interactive competitions aimed at engaging young Belizeans, including:
- Art Canvas Competition – Open to young artists who wish to express their creativity and passion for integrity through visual art.
- Essay Competition – Available to students at the secondary and tertiary levels, encouraging them to explore the theme of anti-corruption and good governance in Belize.
- 1-Minute TikTok Video Contest – Open to all, this contest challenges participants to create impactful videos that raise awareness about corruption and promote the values of transparency and accountability.
In addition to these competitions, a special Integrity Walk is scheduled to take place in the nation’s capital, Belmopan, later this month. The walk will serve as a symbol of solidarity and a call to action for all Belizeans to unite in the fight against corruption.
Throughout the month, various activities will be held to highlight the importance of good governance and encourage the next generation to become champions of integrity and accountability. These initiatives aim to empower citizens to take an active stand against corruption, reinforcing the message that everyone has a role to play in building a transparent and just society.
