The workshop aims to train seed instructors and sheep farmers in culinary skills of lamb and mutton preparation and cooking to increase the consumption of lamb and mutton products in Belize. The training includes sessions in carcass preparation, meat cutting, ingredient preparation, and the cooking process of stew lamb, lamb chop suey, and barbecue lamb. These were all facilitated by Mr. Frank Padron, Extension Officer in the ministry.

Fifty participants include the ministry’s extension officers (Livestock), butchers, restaurateurs and sheep and goat farmers. The extension officers are also expected to help train sheep and goat farmers in their respective districts by transferring knowledge and technical skills.

The Government of Belize and the Republic of China (Taiwan) are committed to supporting Belizean farmers and strengthening the sheep and goat industry. Through the Sheep and Goat Project, the theoretical and practical training and educational outreach will further help to advance Belizeans’ welfare.
