Today, Her Excellency Dame Froyla Tzalam, Governor General of Belize, welcomed His Excellency Alessandro Modiano, Ambassador of Italy to Belize, to deliver his letters of credence.
In his remarks, Ambassador Modiano conveyed, on behalf of President Sergio Mattarella of Italy, his best wishes for the health and prosperity of the people and Government of Belize. He also reiterated his commitment to advancing relations between Belize and Italy, highlighting areas of potential cooperation in sectors such as sustainable tourism, agriculture, cultural heritage protection, education and professional training in medicine and law enforcement.
Furthermore, the Ambassador was delighted to announce the inauguration of the Italian Honorary Consulate in Placencia. The office will provide consular services for the Italian community in Belize and streamline the visa application process for citizens of Belize who intend to visit, study or work in Italy.
The Governor General warmly welcomed the new ambassador to Belize and congratulated Ambassador Modiano on the opening of the Italian Honorary Consulate. She expressed her hopes for strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries.
