The Government of Belize, through the Ministry of Economic Development, is pleased to announce the approval of feasibility studies for the development of the Northern Regional Hospital and the Punta Gorda Town Hospital. This initiative has been made possible through funding from the Taiwan Cooperation Partnership Trust, valued at US$986,050, facilitated by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).
The signing ceremony featured Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño and Ms. Ruth Calderon from CABEI, with a special honorary witness signature by Her Excellency Lily Li-Wen Hsu, Ambassador of Taiwan to Belize.
Hon. Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health and Wellness, emphasized the importance of these studies in strengthening Belize’s healthcare system by assessing the requirements and feasibility of these new hospital developments. Hon. Osmond Martinez, Minister of State for Foreign Trade in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, also delivered remarks highlighting the significant impact of these hospitals. The Government of Belize remains committed to improving medical infrastructure and ensuring that citizens across the country have access to quality healthcare services.
This event marks another milestone in the continued collaboration between Belize and CABEI and underscores the strong relationship Belize has built with the Republic of China (Taiwan).
