Dr. Osmond Martinez, chief executive officer in the Ministry of Economic Development, received a courtesy visit on June 14, from Mrs. Andie De Arment, Political and Economic Chief of the United States Embassy in Belize.
Areas of interest that were discussed included supporting investor-friendly environments, digital transformation, science and technology, energy sustainability, social protection, eradication of extreme poverty, immigration, and security. CEO Martinez explained the role of the ministry in advancing the country’s overall economic development through research, development and planning. In addition, U.S. funding and grant opportunities were discussed.
The Government of Belize and the Embassy of the United States continue to work closely in areas of development.
