Department of Transport Introduces New Bus Route to Serve Coastal Highway Communities

The Ministry of Transport is pleased to announce the introduction of a new bus route to enhance transportation access for residents in underserved communities along the Coastal Highway. This initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to improving connectivity and ensuring equitable access to public transportation for all citizens.

Route Details:

Morning Schedule:

• Departure: Santa Cruz Village at 4:30 AM
• Stops:
  
  • Dangriga (arrival 5:15 AM; departure 5:30 AM)
  • Mullins River Village
  • Gales Point Village
  • La Democracia Village
• Destination: Belize City (express service after La Democracia)

Afternoon Return Schedule:

• Departure: Belize City Terminal at 3:00 PM
• Route:
  • Express to La Democracia Village, then regular service through:
    • Gales Point Village
    • Mullins River Village
    • Hope Creek Village
  • Arrival in Dangriga (approximately 5:15 PM; departure 5:30 PM)
• Destination: Santa Cruz Village (arrival approximately 6:15 PM)

The new route aims to address the longstanding need for reliable and efficient public transportation in these areas, offering residents a safer and more convenient travel option.

Operations will commence on Monday, December 23, 2024.
