The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño, met on 28th November 2023.
- Cabinet approved several proposed additional amendments to the Money Laundering and Terrorism Prevention Act and other relevant legislation. These proposed amendments will allow Belize to meet technical compliance with the Financial Action Task Force (FAFT) recommendations in the execution of the 4th Round Mutual Evaluation by the Caribbean FAFT.
- Cabinet gave its approval for the Financial Services Commission to effect the administrative strike-off of inactive companies that have failed to re-register since the enactment of the Belize Companies Act that was published in July 2022.
- To safeguard investment in Belize’s archaeological reserves, Cabinet approved an increase in the entrance fees at archaeological reserves in Belize effective 1st November 2024.
- Finally, the Prime Minister announced the appointment of Ms. Sharole Carr Saldivar as the Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries. The Prime Minister also thanked her predecessor, Mr. Kevin Arthurs, for serving as CEO in the ministry from November 2020 to November 2023.
