Belize to Commemorate UN Day

Belmopan. October 22, 2021. 4:50 p.m.

October 24, 2021 will mark the 76th anniversary of the United Nations (UN) Charter, fondly celebrated as UN Day.

For almost eight decades, the UN has remained a global leader in promoting development, peace, and human rights. This support continues to yield positive changes for Belizeans in all aspects of their lives. The Government and people of Belize therefore congratulate the UN on this achievement and extend tremendous gratitude and enthusiasm for a long-standing and ever-deepening UN partnership.

This year, Belize joins global efforts to commemorate UN Day through the campaigns “UN Blue” and “Together We Rise”. The National Assembly Building in Belmopan will be lit up in trademark UN blue, with a special focus to pay homage to frontline workers while local municipalities will be raising UN flags on UN Day. Through these symbolic initiatives, Belize reiterates its solidarity and unity under UN goals and ideals.

The Government of Belize further reaffirms its commitment to coordinating joint efforts with the UN towards the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and leaving no one behind.
