The second in a series of budget consultations for fiscal year 2021/2022 was held today in Belmopan with members of the Public Service Union (PSU).
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current financial state of affairs and to seek to find common ground on the development of a sustainable, practical and equitable homegrown plan for economic recovery.
The Government of Belize was represented by Hon. Cordel Hyde, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining; Hon. Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology; and Hon. Henry Charles Usher, Minister of the Public Service, Constitutional and Political Reform.
The PSU was represented by Mr. Gerald Henry, Jr., PSU president; along with members Mr. Dean Flowers, Mr. Shane Reneau, Ms. Ana Loague, and Ms. Gale Garcia.
Similar meetings are scheduled this week with the Belize National Teachers Union, the National Trade Union Congress of Belize, and the Association of Public Service Senior Managers.
Last week, consultations, chaired by the Prime Minister, were held with representatives from the private sector.
