Belmopan. January 18, 2021. 12:45 p.m.
The Department of Youth Services, Ministry of Youth, Sports, and E-Governance informs the public of the opening of the “Entrepreneurship & On-the-Job Skills Training Service”, formally known as the Youth Apprenticeship Program and Enterprise Development.
For the first time, the Entrepreneurship & On-the-Job Skills Training Service will appeal to youth countrywide between the ages of 16 to 29. This service will offer a hands-on approach to career growth by providing interns with trade opportunities to choose from including plumbing, air conditioner repair, electrical work, mechanical work, waitressing, and food preparation.
Currently, 97 interns are enrolled in the Entrepreneurship & On-the-Job Skills Training Service. A stipend is provided to support their pursuit of the trades. This cohort will be placed for a period of three months and will be re-engaged after the start of the new financial year on April 1, 2021. After the completion of the three-month period, a certification in the trade will be granted. When the interns are re-engaged, the certification will be accredited by the Institute for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ITVET).
