Belize City. May 14th, 2019. The Department of Youth Services and the National Sports Council of the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Embassy of Republic of China (Taiwan), will be hosting a 2K and 5K track race to commemorate thirty years of diplomatic ties and strong friendship between Belize and Taiwan. The Fun Run will be held on Saturday, 1st June, 2019 in Belize City at Memorial Park, commencing at 6:00 a.m. Registration will begin from 5:30 a.m.
All families, Primary, High School and University students are invited to come out and engage in some friendly competition while getting the chance to win attractive prizes such as computers, tablets and cell phones. The event is sponsored by the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
Track and field have always been described as the ultimate fun game and metaphor for life. Children, youth and families will have a great time giving everything they have while running. Running helps to build skills that inevitably serves them while moving forward in life. Sportsmanship, communication skills, teamwork, accountability, responsibility, and respect are all by-products of participation; and the Taiwan Belize It—Friendship Run 2019 embraces all these concepts.
